Pinewood Derby - April

When Bailey turned 8 he went into Cub Scouts. This is a whole new world to me! Thank goodness Hyrum understands everything that goes on with Scouting and building a Pinewood Derby car. Bailey and Hyrum had a ball coming up with the design of Bailey's car. It's all about the race (and not just for the kid either).

The project car that took hours! Good job Bailey and Dad!

Bailey placed 7th. He wanted 1st but got some good ideas to improve the car for next year.

Happy St. Patrick's Day - March 17th

I'm Irish and I think Hyrum has some Irish in him too. So every year we believe it's important to celebrate St. Patrick's day. It's more because we have so much fun doing it (Irish music and all)but we also share stories or facts about the day. I cook corned beef with cabbage, soda bread and all kinds of other green things like lime jello, green mashed potatos and green beans. This year we invited family to share the Luck O' the Irish!

Green, Green Everywhere!
Grandpa Rigtrup and Jordan joined us!

Let's go fly a kite.....(Mid-March)

Sometimes you just have to get away and fly a kite. That's what we decided to do on a Beautiful Cold March Wednesday. Hyrum played hookey from work and we kept the kids home from school to get away as a family for the day. It was so much fun and such good bonding for us. These are some of the pictures. I have a lot more mental snapshots of this day. It was a good happy day!

First thing Gabriella did was peel off toward the water!

For hours Bailey and Hyrum flew kites. They raced and had so much fun laughing the whole time.
Yep, the doll came too!

Trying my hand at flying a kite.

The coast line was so beautiful. I wish I lived right by it. The waves were so soothing to listen to.

Gabriella was a sandy mess. She loves to get right in and experience life!

Hyrum's 35th Birthday! March 8th

Hyrum's Birthday was on Sunday so we decided to celebrate Saturday night after Bailey's Baptism. Heather (my cousin) and Ken and family were up for the baptism along with my sister Beth so we decided to go to dinner at Famous Dave's. Love it! We had a great time despite I couldn't get any good pics of Hyrum. Happy 35th Birthday!
I said "Say Cheese" and this is what they did....

Bailey's Baptism - March 7, 2009

Our Bailey was baptized today. Lots of people came to his baptism to celebrate his decision and example. His cousins and friends sang, his Grandma Rigtrup and Great Aunt Louise spoke (great talks on Baptism and the Holy Ghost), his sister gave him lots of hugs and everyone enjoyed a banana split or two. The spirit was so strong. I'm so thankful he made this covenant and promise. We will never forget - it was truely a beautiful day!

Bailey's B-day Party - February 14th

What do you do when you ask your son "What kind of a Birthday party do you want to have this year?" and his reply is "Mom, I think I'd like to have a Abraham Lincoln Birthday party." You make it work after you pick yourself up off the floor! LOL!

I had to get really creative but we had fun and even Honest Abe himself showed up! Hee, Hee, Hee!

Decorating the house! Red, White and Blue were the colors of the day!
Abe storytime. Yeah, the boys were REAL interested....

Bailey turns 8!!! February 12th

My baby boy is no longer a baby....he is now at the age of accountability! Bailey turned 8 and I found myself wondering where all the time had gone! Seriously, it seems like we just had the kid blessed and now he's on to baptism!
We have a tradition with the kids of going out to dinner (anywhere of their choice) on their Birthdays but Bailey had asked me to make a crab dinner. It was an awesome request that we all enjoyed! We then headed out to a movie to top off the night.
As Bailey was born on Lincoln's Birthday, another tradition for Bailey's day is that he gets an Abraham Lincoln book on his birthday. He has quite a collection!
Welcome to 8 big guy!!!
